Nita Jean Martin, age 79 of Bridgeport, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Deaconess Mid-Town Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born May 18, 1945, in Bridgeport to Elmer Hank Meek and his wife Vera Fern (Umfleet) Meek. Nita was married to John Robert Martin when he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker to her five children along with working outside of the home. She had worked at the United Methodist Village, Gray's, and had recently retired from Aperion Care of Bridgeport.
She loved her family and really enjoyed going to casinos.
Surviving family includes: five children- James Ray Stevenson of Bridgeport; Galen Lee Stevenson and wife Angelina of Bicknell, IN; Jerry Wayne Stevenson and girlfriend Debbi Lynn Higgins of Bridgeport; Steven Roy Martin of Bridgeport; and Ronald Bruce Martin and wife Mandy Christine of Olney: eight grandchildren: one great-grandchild: and sister-in-law- Patricia Meek of Petrolia.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Elmer Hank Me
